Collins made a name for himself over five NFL seasons, split between the Ravens and the Seahawks, spanning from 2016 to 2018 and then from 2020 to 2021. His journey continued in the 2023 USFL season with the Memphis Showboats.
The Seahawks released a statement from Collins’ family on Monday night, expressing the collective sentiment of those who knew him: “Alex was cherished by his family and friends as well as supporters from all around the world.
All who truly know him can attest to his drive, determination, and larger-than-life personality. We kindly request your thoughts and prayers for our family during this difficult time.”
Throughout his NFL career, Collins stood out not only for his athletic prowess but also for his distinctive touchdown celebration: an Irish jig dance.
In an interview with CBS Evening News, he revealed that he learned this dance from the daughter of his high school football coach. Despite some teasing, Collins credited the Irish jig with enhancing his footwork on the field. You should also check Neymar Set to Embark on New Journey in Saudi Arabia with Record Breaking Salary.
In a heartwarming display of his character, Collins once reached out to a 12-year-old boy who was being bullied for pursuing the Irish dance.
He shared words of encouragement on social media, reminding the young boy to stay true to himself: “Never stop doing the things you love because someone else doesn’t agree.”
After his final stint with the Seahawks in 2021, Collins transitioned to the USFL, joining the Memphis Showboats. Unfortunately, his journey in the USFL was cut short when he was placed on Injured Reserve on May 4, preventing him from making further appearances.
